The flip flop project
A beach cleaning project in Tanzania collect flip flops from their beaches, they clean them and glue them together into blocks. Then traditional Masai sculptors who normally work with wood, form these flip flop blocks into beautiful sculptures. Nearly 90 tons of flip flops are washed up onto the beaches of Tanzania every year, they are made from a material that does not degrade, therefore it is essential to find creative uses for this toxic waste material.
