The Flip flop project

A beach cleaning project in Tanzania collect flip flops from the beaches, they clean them and glue them together into blocks. Then traditional sculptors who normally work with wood, form these flipflop blocks into beautiful sculptures. Nearly 90 tons of flip flops are washed up onto the beaches of Tanzania every year, they are made from a material that does not degrade and projects like this are essential to find a use of this toxic material.
