Himba Tribe

The Himba are a tribe of nomadic people who live in the Kaokoland area of Namibia. They wear bangles made from recycled PVC piping, carving them with intricate designs and wearing them as part of their traditional dress. The origin of this tradition comes from the materials resemblance to ivory, which was used in the past when elephants roamed Namibia in Large numbers. Zenzele buys these products with the help of an Arts Trust Project, promoting sustainable development of this indigenous tribe.
