Bongani

Bongani hand makes sharks out of recycled wire. He is originally from Zimbabwe, from the Victoria Falls area, where his inspiration was the birdlife of the area. When he arrived in Cape Town in 2003, he started to make sharks, impressed by this powerful animal in the African seas. He has mastered the shape of the Shark and is now renowned for his Shark sculptures. The wire, is old fencing wire that he recycles from the scrapyards. First, he skillfully creates the frame of the shark, then with a thinner wire laboriously adds a skin around the structure, the result perfect in shape and detail.
